Former Marine Who Stole Truck To Save Las Vegas Victims Gets Text Message From The Owner

After the tragedy of the Las Vegas shooting, the country was able to find a glimmer of hope in the darkness as stories of heroism came to light. One former marine who was at the country music concert when the shooter opened fire is being hailed as just that – a hero.

As thousands of people attempted to flee during the horrific shooting, former marine Taylor Winston stumbled upon an empty truck with the keys left inside. Without batting an eye, the 29-year-old took the truck and used it to help victims of the shooting. Three days after the tragic event, Taylor received a message from the owner of the truck.

The owner wrote Taylor simply asking for his keys. He added, “Other then [sic] that it’s all water under the bridge to me and how’s the person you hauled doing.”

Taylor responded by saying he would be happy to return the keys. He wrote, “I took about 30 critically injured to the hospital. Your truck was extremely important saving those people’s lives.”

Instead of leaving the scene of the deadly mass shooting, Taylor made two trips from the scene to the hospital and managed to drive over two dozen injured people to safety.

Taylor described the moment the shooting took place. “The shots got louder and louder, closer to us and saw people getting hit, it was like we could be hit at any second. Once we got to the fence, I helped throw a bunch of people over, and got myself over,” he said. “It was a mini war zone but we couldn’t fight back.”

He continued, “I saw a field with a bunch of white trucks. I tested my luck to see if any of them had keys in it, first one we tried opening had keys sitting right there. I started looking for people to take to the hospital. There was just too many and it was overwhelming how much blood was everywhere.”

Injured victims piled into the truck, in the backseat and across the bed. Taylor explained, “Once we dropped them off, we were like well, let’s go back for round two and go get some more. I transported probably 20 to 30 people injured to the hospital.”

While it’s unknown how many of them survived, his act of bravery did not go unnoticed. The owner of the truck, as well as the rest of the world, recognized his true act of heroism.
